Skincare FAQs

🌟 Why is knowing your skin type important?

The first part of your skincare journey is to know your skin, and we mean really know it. Paying attention to your skin is especially important if you struggle with different skin concerns. If you don’t know your skin type, you could potentially harm your skin barrier with ingredients that are too harsh or ingredients that aren’t compatible with your skin.

🌟 How can I determine my skin type?

There are 2 popular ways to determine your skin type if you’re having trouble figuring out which one you fall under:

  • Cleanse and Wait

Wash your face with a gentle/mild cleanser, pat dry, and don’t apply any moisturizer. Wait for 30 minutes to 1 hour and evaluate your skin. If it feels tight and you see visible dry patches, your skin type is dry. If you see some shine on your nose and forehead but your cheeks are dry, then you have combination skin. If your skin feels oily all over, you have oily skin. Lastly, if your skin feels normal and comfortable, you have normal skin type

  • Blotting Papers

After you cleanse your face with a gentle/mild cleanser, wait about 1-2 hours. Take an oil blotting sheet and press it onto your skin. If you find that you have no oil on your cheeks but the t-zone is oily, then you have combination skin. If you see no change in the color of the paper, then you have dry skin, and so on!

We hope this helped you determine your skin type so you can better take care of your skin and give it the right amount of love it deserves! It’s super important to get to know your skin so you can find the right products for you. Keep in mind that skin changes sometimes depending on your age and lifestyle. Some things that can influence your skin are things like genetics, climate, hormones, medications, diet, and of course your current skincare routine. So definitely check in and adjust when necessary.

🌟 Do you need to moisturize oily skin?

Yes, you need to moisturize  even if you have oily skin. Moisturizer is used to improve your skin’s texture and to hydrate. If you have oily skin, you can use oil-free moisturizer to avoid greasy and shiny looking skin. Shop moisturizer for oily skin here.

🌟 Do I really need to wear sunscreen every day?

You need to apply sunscreen every day to protect your skin from the harmful radiations. Using sunscreen will also decrease the risk of skin cancer and other skin aging problems such as fine lines, wrinkles, spots and skin discoloration.

🌟 How does pollution impact skin?

Aside from leaving the surface of your skin feeling dirty, some chemicals attached to pollution particles can penetrate through the skin’s layers and cause so-called oxidative stress which can weaken the skin’s barrier and trigger inflammation. If your exposure to these particles is high and your skin isn’t protected, this can result in skin pigmentation problems, uneven skin tone and dullness, as well as the formation of wrinkles – all signs of premature skin ageing. People with sensitive skin types, as well as those suffering from inflammatory skin diseases such as eczema, are more susceptible to the effects of air pollution as they have a compromised skin barrier to start with, making it even more important to ensure your skin is protected.

  • How to protect your skin from pollution?

Unfortunately, for women in the city and those living in urban areas there is no way to avoid the pollution in the air altogether, therefore it is important to use skincare that can help protect against its impact on our skin that leads to premature skin ageing.

We want women to take air pollution as seriously as we do UV protection and ensure your skincare routine offers you the best possible solution. Shop anti pollution skin care here.

Good luck on your skincare journey! 💜
